ارتفعت حصيلة ضحايا الزلزال المدمر الذي ضرب فنزويلا في 24 يونيو الماضي إلى 2954 قتيلاً، وفق أحدث حصيلة رسمية، فيما تتواصل عمليات البحث والإنقاذ في المناطق المنكوبة، وسط جهود مكثفة لإغاثة المتضررين.
وأعلنت وزارة الإعلام والاتصال في فنزويلا أن عدد المصابين بلغ 16,592 شخصاً، بينما فقد 16,309 أشخاص منازلهم جراء الدمار الذي خلفته الهزات الأرضية، في واحدة من أكثر الكوارث الطبيعية دموية التي تشهدها البلاد خلال العقود الأخيرة.
وأوضحت أن الزلزال أدى إلى تدمير 190 مبنى بالكامل، فيما تعرض 856 مبنى لأضرار جسيمة، الأمر الذي تسبب في تشريد آلاف الأسر وزيادة الاحتياجات الإنسانية في المناطق المتضررة.
وأكدت السلطات أن فرق البحث والإنقاذ تمكنت من انتشال وإنقاذ 6462 شخصاً من تحت الأنقاض، فيما تلقى 22,445 شخصاً الرعاية الطبية في المستشفيات والمراكز الصحية.
وأضافت أن المساعدات الإنسانية وصلت إلى 86,794 عائلة، وشملت توزيع نحو 9486 طناً من المواد الغذائية، إلى جانب توفير الاحتياجات الأساسية للمتضررين، في ظل استمرار عمليات إزالة الأنقاض وتقييم حجم الخسائر.
وكان الزلزال قد ضرب فنزويلا مساء 24 يونيو الماضي، عندما سجلت البلاد هزتين أرضيتين فصلت بينهما نحو 40 ثانية، بلغت قوتهما 7.2 و7.5 درجة، وتمركزتا في ولاية ياراكوي، ما أدى إلى اهتزازات عنيفة شعر بها السكان في مناطق واسعة.
وتواصل السلطات الفنزويلية جهودها للعثور على المفقودين وإعادة الخدمات الأساسية إلى المناطق المنكوبة، وسط مخاوف من استمرار التداعيات الإنسانية والاقتصادية الناجمة عن حجم الدمار الذي خلفته الكارثة.
The death toll from the devastating earthquake that struck Venezuela on June 24 has risen to 2,954, according to the latest official figures, while search and rescue operations continue in the affected areas, amidst intensive efforts to assist those affected.
The Ministry of Information and Communication in Venezuela announced that the number of injured has reached 16,592, while 16,309 people have lost their homes due to the destruction caused by the tremors, in one of the deadliest natural disasters the country has witnessed in recent decades.
It clarified that the earthquake led to the complete destruction of 190 buildings, while 856 buildings suffered severe damage, resulting in the displacement of thousands of families and an increase in humanitarian needs in the affected areas.
The authorities confirmed that search and rescue teams managed to pull out and save 6,462 people from under the rubble, while 22,445 people received medical care in hospitals and health centers.
It added that humanitarian aid has reached 86,794 families, including the distribution of about 9,486 tons of food supplies, along with the provision of basic necessities for the affected, as debris removal operations and damage assessments continue.
The earthquake struck Venezuela on the evening of June 24, when the country recorded two tremors separated by about 40 seconds, with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5, centered in the state of Yaracuy, causing violent shaking felt by residents in wide areas.
The Venezuelan authorities continue their efforts to find the missing and restore essential services to the affected areas, amidst fears of ongoing humanitarian and economic repercussions resulting from the scale of destruction caused by the disaster.
